What do you do and why?
I do private wealth management for small business owners and families across the country. I do it because most people care about two things: their health and their wealth — yet they struggle to go the gym and avoid sitting down to understand their finances.
I’ve also been drawn to this work because my father passed away while I was in high school, and I’ve worked full-time ever since. I’m also the Vice-President of a non-profit on Long Island, and involved in many professional associations and committees.
What change would you like to enact in the world?
I would like more people to think about what is right, instead of what is easy. Most things worth having require hard work. Especially when it comes to food!
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
Here are two: 1) When I’m on the phone with friends, clients, or colleagues, I’ll often say “Okay I love you, bye” before I hang up. Partly because it’s funny, but largely because it always puts a smile on their face! 2) When I’m bored I’ll go out to bars by myself with some sort of prop to keep myself entertained or as a conversation piece to meet people. Props have included: CZ engagement rings, mistletoe on a stick, a ream of facebook “like” stickers, a genie lamp from aladdin, pointy genie shoes, etc.
Why did you join IVY?
I was reached out to online and, ultimately, I thought the price was right and thought it would be an interesting way to have someone else plan my adventures across New York City. Also, I lack the ability to say “no” when introduced to a new opportunity or experience.
What has been your most memorable IVY Experience?
I’ve only been a member for a short while now, but I’ve already made some lifelong friends because of it! It’s an amazing group of people. I also almost convinced the PR team of Baked by Melissa to let me use their Instagram account to try and get a date. They didn’t go for it, but it was a really funny attempt.
