What do you do and why?
I believe that every day, we all need to go out and make a difference in the world. I bring this ethos into my professional career by creating businesses that successfully balance the forces of altruism, revenue, and scale to bring products and services to market that make a difference in people’s lives. You can’t create sustainable change in the world without some level of commercial success, and that’s what I do.
I currently lead a strategic alliance between the University of California, San Francisco, and Cognizant Corporation aimed at creating solutions for some of healthcare’s most difficult problems and am also an Entrepreneur in Residence at Vonzos Partners, a fund focused on helping companies overcome business, technical, and market challenges and bring innovative healthcare and core technologies to market.
What change would you like to enact in the world?
I want to see a world where everyone can be healthy, has access to knowledge and can better themselves, and is connected to the world around them. By making this change, we can better understand each other and focus on working together to better this tiny blue dot we call home.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I’ve visited all seven continents, all 50 states, and over 30 countries… And I’m a twin…. Okay, that’s two.
Why did you join IVY?
I joined IVY to meet people and have experiences that I wouldn’t be able to get in the normal course of my life. It’s so easy to get caught up in the normalcy of the known, and IVY’s curation of events and activities across arts, experiences, volunteerism, and just plain social connection helps break that.
What has been your most memorable IVY Experience?
As a relatively new member, I’ve only been to a few events, but the one that truly stands out was a volunteerism event where a number of organizations came out to share their needs with the IVY community. It was amazing to see how much enthusiasm came from the community members and their desire to help.
