The former Dean of Columbia College Michele Moody-Adams talks about how she learns best and why all of us need those big conversations if we ever hope to understand the world around us.
Michele Moody-Adams is a Professor of Political Philosophy and Legal Theory at Columbia University, where she also served as Dean of Columbia College and Vice President for Undergraduate Education. She spoke to IVY Members at IVY’s Philosophy Night, where she stressed the continued importance of philosophy and its applicability to our own lives.
“I hope philosophy has made me lead a better life,” says Professor Moody-Adams. “I hope it’s made me a person who’s more willing to scrutinize the things I take for granted, less prone to bias, more willing to listen to what other people have to say.”
